Corps Member Allegedly B£aten by Teacher Over ‘Improper Greeting’ In Ilorin (Photos) | #Lagostrend

A shocking incident has been reported at Government Day Junior Secondary School, Kulende, Ilorin, involving a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member and a teacher at the school, Lagostrend reports.

The corps member, who had visited the school to collect her clearance letter, was allegedly subjected to physical assault by a teacher for what was described as “not greeting properly.”

Eyewitnesses claim the teacher confronted the corps member over what he perceived as a lack of respect in her greeting. The situation escalated, leading to the alleged physical assault. The corps member reportedly sustained minor injuries from the incident.

The event has sparked outrage among fellow corps members and members of the public, with many condemning the use of violence in resolving what appears to be a minor issue.

Speaking anonymously, a student who witnessed the incident expressed shock, saying, “We couldn’t believe what we saw. A teacher should be a role model, not someone who uses force over such a small matter.”

Efforts to reach the school authorities for comments have so far been unsuccessful. However, the incident has drawn attention to the need for better conflict resolution mechanisms and respect for corps members, who serve as essential contributors to Nigeria’s education system.

Meanwhile, the NYSC management in Kwara State is reportedly aware of the incident and is expected to release an official statement soon. The Kwara State Ministry of Education has also been urged to investigate the matter thoroughly to ensure accountability and justice.

This incident has reignited discussions about the treatment of corps members in their places of primary assignment, with many calling for stricter measures to protect them from harassment and abuse.

As investigations continue, the public awaits further clarification and resolution to this disturbing incident.
