Dr. Ahmed Odunrinde Adesanya Appointed as Professor at LASU.

 

The Lagos State University (LASU) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Ahmed Odunrinde Adesanya as a professor in the Department is Linguistics, African Languages and Communication Arts. Dr. Adesanya brings extensive expertise and experience in the field of Yoruba Studies and Communication Arts.

Prior to his appointment at LASU, Dr. Adesanya served as a Associate Professor at LASU where he received numerous accolades for his research contributions. He has also published several research articles in leading linguistics journals. It is also on record that he started the Linguistics programme while he was the Head of Department (HoD).

As a professor at LASU, Prof. A. O. Adesanya will be responsible for teaching courses related to Linguistics and Communications. He will also continue his research in the field and collaborate with colleagues to further advance the field.

"We are thrilled to have Dr. Adesanya join us as a professor,"said Prof. Taiwo Moshood  Salisu, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts. "His expertise and knowledge will benefit our students and faculty and we look forward to the contributions he will make to our university."

Prof. Ahmed Odunrinde Adesanya, a graduate of the University, joined the services of the Lagos State University as a Graduate Assistant in 1998. He proceeded to the University of Ibadan in the year 2000 for his M.A. in Yorùbá Stylistics and returned in 2003 for another M.A. in Communication and Language Arts. He enrolled for PhD in 2005 at the same University for Indigenous Nonverbal Communication. He became an Assistant Lecturer in 2003, Lecturer II in 2006, Lecturer I in 2009, Senior Lecturer in 2015, Associate Professor in 2018 and Full Professor in 2022, although it was announced in September, 2023.

Prof. Ahmed O. Adesanya is an indigene of Ado- Ikosi in the Ikosi Ejinrin Local Council Development Area of Epe Division, Lagos State, an old student of Ikosi Methodist High School, Agbowa now Lagos State Model College, Agbowa-Ikosi and member of the Ikosi Ejinrin Development Forum, a group of intellects committed to advancing the cause of their homestead.
