HRM Oba Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo Alara of Ilara Kingdom Meet with the Security Agency In The Community to shun Cultism

 


His Roya Majesty Oba, Dr.  Olukayode Olufolarin Ogunsanwo, the Alala of Ilara Kingdom, Terade IV, has commended the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for launching a determined campaign against cultism, drug abuse and other social vices. The award was presented in an interview on the sidelines of the summit “Cultism: Threats and Threats to Education and the Economy” organized by the Police Against Cultism and Other Vices of Nigeria (POCACOV) in collaboration with the Ilara Kingdom Alara Epe Division. Awarded during.

The Inspector General of Police,Federal Republic of Nigeria,IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun,Ph.D,NPM,was on Thursday,November 23,2023, convened a summit of Youth in both Secondary Schools and Tertiary Institutions, pupils of Primary Schools and other stakeholders across Epe Division at Augustine University,Ilara Kingdom,Epe Division of Lagos State, where Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices ( POCACOV),was launched for Epe Division. On this, Alara of Ilara Kingdom,HRM Oba (Dr.) Olukayode Olufolarin Ogunsanwo (Teleda IV;JP) partnered with the Nigeria Police Force and also sponsored thousand of copies of Guide Book on cultism and other crimes, titled," Nigerian Youth In Cultism and Social Vices...A Moral Guide Book " That were distributed to the youths at the event.


In his Welcome Address, Oba (Dr.) Ogunsanwo,who is the Royal Father/Chief Host of the day, condemned cultism,drug abuse and other crimes largely rampants amongst Nigerian youths,nowadays. He Condemned the rate at which cultism is now spread across communities in the country. He however commended the Inspector General of Police and his team of intelligent Police force and other sisters security agencies for their tireless efforts aimed at eradicating crimes or drastically having them reduced, to foster safer and progressive society. He urged the police and other security agencies to be more committed and dedicated to the fight against crimes. He later enjoined Nigerian Youth in Epe Division,Lagos State and Nigeria, at large,to shun cultism,announcing that it has no positive benefits,but rather leads to untimely death, perpetual failure and disgrace. He advised that, they should be more concerned about achieving good future for themselves,by being focused and diligent to either their studies or occupations,as the case may be.

The Chairman of the Occasion,the distinguished Senator,representing Lagos East Senatorial District,in the National Assembly,Senator Adetokunbo Abiru,represented at the event by his aide,Mr. Olumuyiwa Odunare, commended Nigeria Police,for coming up with the POCACOV,as another means of curbing crimes and have those who renounced their membership of cultism and other vices,protected and rehabilitated. He later reiterated his commitment to ensure that the youths of Lagos East, are gainfully engaged through acquisition of advanced technological skills and empowerment.


The Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly,Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa,represented by the Chairman,House Committee on Information,Strategy and Security,Hon. Ogundipe Stephen Olukayode;NDLEA Lagos State Commander,represented by ACN Aileru Ayinde; LIRS Chairman,represented by Mr. Wale Aina;Chairman,Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board ( LASUBEB),Dr. Hakeem Babatunde Shittu,represented by Mrs. Odunola Oni; Education Secretary,Epe Local Government Education Authority ( LGEA),Otunba Shittu Aliu Idowu; and the Chairman,Planning Committee of the event, High-Chief Charles Olufemi Keshinro,FCA; were amongst those who enlightened and admonished Youth to shun cultism,drug abuse and other vices, at the event.


Earlier on, a lecture themed," Cultism: A Menace and Threat to Education and Economy", was brilliantly delivered by the Vice- Chancellor, Tai Solarin University of Education,Ijagun,Ijebu-Ode,Ogun State,Prof. Oluwole Sikiru Banjo,represented by Prof. Samuel Ekundayo Oladipo.Cultism and other vices as they negatively affect education and economy,were discussed.
